A message from Optimus Health Care:
What is a School Based Health Center?
Parents spend most of their time at work; therefore providing health centers in your child's school benefits your busy schedule. Parents won't have to take a full day out of work to take their children to a medical, dental, behavioral health, and community health worker appointments. Students will not have to miss a full day of school for an appointment.
Optimus Health Care School-Based Health Centers are staffed with licensed health care providers, who work with your child's school to provide quality medical, behavioral health, dental services, and assistance with community resources during the school day. The health care providers work cooperatively with the student's primary care providers to support their health care needs.
Optimus School Based Health Centers provide many health services, including:
Back-to-school physicals
Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries
Immunizations
Individual and group therapy
Crisis intervention
Oral hygiene cleanings
Facilitate access to community services
Any student can be seen at a school-based health center regardless of insurance status. Insurance is billed for services; however, there are no out-of-pocket costs to the family for medical or behavioral health services. For students without insurance, there are small fees associated with dental services.
