Flood Middle School Participates in the Presidential Award Program. Excellence Award qualifications for are: A cumulative grade point average of 90 or better on a 100 point scale for grade 7 and the first semester of grade 8 and a qualifying score on a standardized assessment.
The Achievement Award recognizes students that show outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in their academic subjects but do not meet the criteria of the Award for Excellence. This award should not be compared to or seen as a "second tier" award to the Excellence Award. The criteria used, from the award program's website are as follows: Show tremendous growth but not meet all the criteria for the Excellence Award, demonstrate unusual commitment to learning despite obstacles, maintain a school record that would have met the selection criteria for Excellence but illness, personal crisis, or special needs prevented the student from maintaining such high standards despite hard work.
