Health: Take It Personally!

I love teaching Health at Wooster Middle School! I love discussing the benefits to being physically, mentally/emotionally and socially healthy. My seventh grade students will be looking at how being physically active and eating specific foods will improve their overall health. Aside from the “obvious” benefits, students will learn that physical activity can prevent, delay and even reduce the risk of developing diabetes, certain cancers and high / low blood pressure. We’ll also be discussing nutrition, specifically the nutritional food guidelines and fact labels. My eighth grade students will be discussing how their bodies are changing physically, mentally/emotionally and socially as they move through adolescence. They’ll learn that it’s not so easy being an adult and just maybe they should enjoy being a kid a little longer. I'll help them work on handling these changes more easily! I encourage my students to open as many dialogues as possible with their parents/guardians about the variety of health related topics which we address throughout my class.

Course Requirement for Middle School Health Education

All students will attend one marking period during the academic school year in both 7th and 8th grades with Mrs. Jill Cable.

Communication
